Exterior view of Oakland Memorial Chapel. Written on recto: Oakland Memorial Chapel-- originally constructed in 1830, was restored in 1959. The first Mississippi male to receive a college degree was here in the mid 1830s, while the first black to receive a college degree was here in the mid 1870s. --Alcorn A&M College George Sewell.
