Abstract
This video recording, dated August 1, 1987, consists of home videos of a group trip to Egypt, led by Dr. Asa G. Hilliard, III. The group visits sites related to Ancient Egyptian history, including the ruins of Memphis, the step pyramid of Djoser, and temple ruins at Luxor. The recording also includes a group discussion of participants and a short talk by Dr. Hilliard. Dr. Hilliard’s talk focuses on how he developed his knowledge of African civilizations, including Ancient Egypt. He singles out the book, The Destruction of Black Civilization, by Chancellor Williams for praise, calling it the “bible” of African history. The video recordings of the trip end at time stamp 03:22:07. The remainder of the recording consists of television programs, including portions of a basketball game (Atlanta Hawks vs. Boston Celtics) and a baseball game (Oakland A’s vs. Seattle Mariners).
