Mbongi: Think Tank on Education, May 31, 1998

This video recording, dated May 31, 1998, consists of excerpts from a two-day event using the “Mbongi” process of building consensus and community organizing. Dr. Asa G. Hilliard, III organized the event, which was jointly sponsored by Georgia State University and Clark Atlanta University, both in Atlanta, Georgia. The participants discuss what avenues they should take to advocate for people of African descent, particularly in relation to realizing a more “African-centered” educational approach. The participants also planned to create a “think tank” based on the strategies they have identified. Participants included Dr. Asa G. Hilliard, III, Dr. Marimba Ani, and Dr. Abdulalim Shabazz, among many others.
