This video features a Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials (GABEO) luncheon event at Ebenezer Baptist Church, West in Athens, Georgia in which Joseph E. Lowery speaks. Michael Thurmond, the Georgia Labor Commissioner, emcees the event and presents the Jackson-McIntyre Award to Georgia State Representative Tyrone Brooks. Maynard H. Jackson and Ed M. McIntyre were the founders of GABEO in 1970. During Lowery's speech, he remarks on his excitement about young people's political participation and the importance of voting in the 2004 presidential election. After the speaking event, attendees gathered at the "Moore's Ford Lynching" historical marker on U.S. 78 and visited the bridge at which the 1946 lynching occurred.
