The images include individual portraits and snapshots of the Lowerys; images of the Lowerys with various relatives, friends, and acquaintances; Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and SCLC/Women's Organizational Movement for Equality Now, Inc. (SCLC/W.O.M.E.N.) activities; other events, people and places; slides; negatives; and photograph albums. This series contains original images, as well as reproductions of photographs including photocopies of prints on paper.

Barbara was visited this week by "Soul Santa" and Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, National Director of SCLC's Operation Breadbasket. "Soul Santa" is visiting black people in other hospitals and institutions including Cook County Jail and other penal institutions. Children can also visit "Soul Santa" at Black Christmas Headquarters in the 51st and State Shopping Center. Hours are on weekdays 6pm to 9pm, and after 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
