Southern Christian Leadership Conference President Joseph E. Lowery with his wife Evelyn lay a wreath at the grave of Jimmie Lee Jackson, a civil rights worker who was killed in 1965. Written on verso: Cry For Meaningful Voting Rights -- SCLC President Joseph E. Lowery (in glasses) and Mrs. Evelyn G. Lowery of SCLC/WOMEN, lay wreath at the grave of slain civil rights leader Jimmie Lee Jackson during the Carrollton to Selma to Montgomery Pilgrimage last February in Alabama, Jackson was killed in 1965 in connection with a civil rights movement in Marion, Alabama. His tombstone has since been damaged by bullet holes. Also pictured (between the Lowerys) is Spiver Gordon, president of the Greene County SCLC chapter in Alabama.
