The images include individual portraits and snapshots of the Lowerys; images of the Lowerys with various relatives, friends, and acquaintances; Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and SCLC/Women's Organizational Movement for Equality Now, Inc. (SCLC/W.O.M.E.N.) activities; other events, people and places; slides; negatives; and photograph albums. This series contains original images, as well as reproductions of photographs including photocopies of prints on paper.

Written on verso: Cry For Meaningful Voting Rights -- SCLC President Joseph E. Lowery (in glasses) and Mrs. Evelyn G. Lowery of SCLC/WOMEN, lay wreath at the grave of slain civil rights leader Jimmie Lee Jackson during the Carrollton to Selma to Montgomery Pilgrimage last February in Alabama, Jackson was killed in 1965 in connection with a civil rights movement in Marion, Alabama. His tombstone has since been damaged by bullet holes. Also pictured (between the Lowerys) is Spiver Gordon, president of the Greene County SCLC chapter in Alabama.
