The images include individual portraits and snapshots of the Lowerys; images of the Lowerys with various relatives, friends, and acquaintances; Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and SCLC/Women's Organizational Movement for Equality Now, Inc. (SCLC/W.O.M.E.N.) activities; other events, people and places; slides; negatives; and photograph albums. This series contains original images, as well as reproductions of photographs including photocopies of prints on paper.

Caption  on verso: MISCALCULATION COULD MEAN VIOLENCE -- Police reaction to jeering crowds, in either north or south, could result in major racial violence in the U.S. this summer. As this policeman in Birmingham faced a crowd in May of this year, so will other law enforcement officers in other cities face demonstrators. A miscalculation in the handling of a crowd could be the spark that touches off a racial conflagration.
