Abstract: The intent of this paper is to identify and recommend solutions to a communication problem the writer observed within the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority. The first chapter deals with the introduction, while the second chapter explores the historical background of MARTA. The third chapter traces the beginning and development of the Division of Contracts and Procurement, and its functions within MARTA. The fourth chapter is a review of literature, dealing with organizational communication. Chapter five identifies the problem, while chapter six proposes several steps that can be taken in order to solve the problem. The sixth chapter also presents the conclusions. The main sources of information were interviews, published and unpublished materials, personal experience, personal observations and library research.
