This study entails a comparison of occupational preferences of military dependent and those of nonmilitary dependent high school students. There was a total of 159 subjects who participated in the study (78 military dependents and 81 nonmilitary dependents, respectively). The subjects were compared in the occupational categories of Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Conventional, and Enterprising as defined by Holland (1985). Analysis of the data utilized the t-test for independent samples. Results of the study showed statistically significant differences between military dependents and nonmilitary dependents in their preferences for realistic and investigative occupations. There were no statistically significant defferences in occupational preferences forartistic, social, conventional, and enterprising occupations between military dependents and nonmilitary dependents.
