This paper analyzes the classification schedule for the Motor Transport Services mechanics for the City of Atlanta. This analysis is based on the need for distinctions between the four classes of automotive mechanics. Additionally, the training needs of Motor Transport Services mechanics are also analyzed based on the ever-changing innovations in automotive technology. The concern for the classification schedule and training needs grew out of a prediction that future automotive technology will require more properly trained personnel. Therefore, a well-organized and trained force of mechanics would be the first step in staying abreast with the changing technology. Information was obtained through observations, parti-cipation, and informal discussions with personnel at all levels of the Bureau of Motor Transport Services. Books, journals, and periodicals were also used as sources of information.
