An Examination of the Association and Perceived Effectiveness of Selected Higher Education Administrator's Leadership Style and the Impact on the Productivity and Motivation of Staff During a Mandated Remote Work Environment

The purpose of this study was to examine the association and perceived effectiveness of administrators' leadership style and the productivity and motivation of staff during a mandated remote work environment. Additionally, this study sought to understand administrators' attitudes on mandated remote work environments. The study found that administrators' leadership style and staff motivation had a significant relationship. Transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire leadership styles all had a significant relationship to motivation, but transformational leadership was the strongest of the three. Additionally, none of the three leadership styles were related to productivity. Furthermore, administrators were more inclined to boost staff productivity when compared to staffers themselves. Also, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, administrators were more likely to support policies on remote work.
